Because of his statement involving the death of the late former President Cory Aquino, Wowowee host Willie Revillame has managed to land himself into another controversy. Different groups are criticizing the comedian because of what he said on his TV show while on-air about taking off the live feed of the transfer of Mrs Aquino’s remains to Manila Cathedral.
The latest of which is the Alyansa ng Filipinong Mamamahayag (AFIMA) who in a statement condemned Mr Revillame’s “arrogance” and issued a demand that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) give the noontime show host the “hardest lesson”.
Distracted by the image running on the monitor, Willie demanded the immediate removal of the live clip, explaining, “Di po maganda. Nagsasaya kami dito habang nagluluksa ang sambayanang Pilipino. Di ko magagampanan ang pagpapatawa habang ipinapakita ang libing ng dating president.”
The public have also showed their sentiment about the situation as seen on different TV reports and even online including social media networks like Twitter.
Willie has already issued an apology, which was accepted by the Aquino family.
